Financial consolidation software is chosen on group structure, and this article shows how.

We compare 6 consolidation platforms here and say which kind of group each one suits.

Financial consolidation software applies ownership, currency translation and intercompany elimination across a group's entities. The result is 1 reported set of numbers for the group. We look at Oracle FCCS, SAP group reporting, CCH Tagetik, Board, LucaNet and OneStream. A 2026 shortlist starts from 3 counts: entities, ledgers and ownership changes a year.

The 3 counts
The number of entities that consolidate, the number of ERPs that feed them and how often the ownership table changes.
The order
The 6 platforms are listed unranked, each with the kind of group it suits.
Where we sit
Constancia is an EPM consultancy and an official OneStream (EPM software) partner. We survey the entities, ledgers and ownership before we recommend a platform.

Each of the 6 consolidation platforms is built for a particular kind of group.

Oracle FCCSA subscription consolidation and reporting application built for Oracle Cloud.Oracle's cloud, as 1 of 8 EPM applications.A group on Oracle Fusion ERP or leaving HFM that wants to stay with Oracle.
SAP group reportingConnects the close processes and runs the group consolidation inside S/4HANA.Inside the SAP S/4HANA ERP.A group whose entities all run S/4HANA and whose close and consolidation can share 1 ledger.
CCH TagetikA platform built around the close workflow, with data governance, audit tools and automation.Wolters Kluwer's cloud or on premises.A regulated group with statutory, tax, ESG and regulatory filings on 1 platform.
BoardThe close, the consolidation, the reporting and the planning on 1 platform.Board's cloud.A mid-market group that wants planning and analysis on the same platform as the close.
LucaNetOne platform for the close, the plan and the report, with more than 300 ETL adapters.LucaNet's cloud.A European mid-market group with many small ERPs and a statutory close under national GAAP and IFRS.
OneStreamA consolidation engine that handles accounts, currencies, ownership and intercompany eliminations.OneStream's cloud, on 1 model with planning and reporting.A group of 250 people or more whose close, plan and reports have to share 1 model.

Oracle FCCS suits a group on Oracle Fusion ERP, or a group leaving HFM that wants to stay with Oracle.

Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close (FCCS) is a subscription application for consolidation and reporting, built for Oracle Cloud. The consolidation and close tasks come built in.

FCCS also suits a group leaving HFM that wants Oracle's planning application beside its consolidation.

FCCS comes with its dimensions already built. A group with an unusual ownership structure should check those dimensions against its own before signing.

SAP group reporting suits a group with every entity on S/4HANA, where the consolidation reads the ledger directly.

S/4HANA Finance for group reporting runs the group consolidation inside the ERP and connects the close processes. The product works on planned and actual data in real time, before and after closing.

The consolidation reads the universal journal with no data load. SAP group reporting also suits a group replacing SAP BPC with the same vendor.

A group with entities on 4 other ERPs loads them into S/4HANA first. The mapping work is the same as on any other platform.

CCH Tagetik suits a regulated group whose statutory, tax and ESG filings have to tie to 1 consolidation.

CCH Tagetik Financial Close and Consolidation is built around the close workflow, with data governance, audit tools and automation.

Tagetik suits groups in regulated sectors such as insurance and banking. Their statutory accounts, tax, ESG and regulatory returns all have to reconcile to 1 set of consolidated numbers.

The platform covers account reconciliation, the close, reporting, disclosure, profitability analysis and iXBRL. A listed group needs iXBRL tagging for its statutory filings.

Board suits a group that plans and closes on 1 platform, with a controller agent on the intercompany match.

Board is a platform for finance and operations teams, with business context, continuous planning and governed agentic AI in one place.

Board suits a mid-market group that plans and consolidates on the same platform. The Financial Consolidation and Reporting module sits beside the planning.

Board's controller agent checks the data and resolves intercompany mismatches during the close.

LucaNet suits a European mid-market group with many small ERPs and a statutory close under several GAAPs.

LucaNet is 1 platform for the close, the plan and the report. More than 6,500 companies run on it.

More than 300 ETL adapters bring a group's many small ERPs onto 1 LucaNet model.

LucaNet began as a product for the multi-GAAP statutory close. That suits a group reporting under German GAAP, IFRS and FRS 102 at the same time.

OneStream suits a group in any sector whose close, plan and reports share 1 model.

OneStream (EPM software) is a consolidation engine for accounts, currencies, ownership and automated intercompany eliminations. More than 1,000 companies run on it.

OneStream suits a group of 250 people or more. The consolidation, the plan and the reports all read 1 entity list and 1 chart of accounts.

Constancia is an official OneStream partner with certified consultants. We survey the group's ledgers before we price an implementation.

Entities, ledgers and ownership changes are the 3 counts behind a consolidation software shortlist.

A group with 3 entities in 1 currency can close in a workbook. A group with 30 entities in 8 currencies needs a consolidation engine.

Each extra ledger adds mapping for the platform to carry. A group buying 4 companies a year changes its ownership table often, and that table gets tested first.

We count the entities, ERPs and acquisitions before any demonstration. A group with 40 entities, 6 ERPs and 3 acquisitions a year sees the demonstration run on its own entity list.

Consolidation software inherits the group's data model, and we survey that model before recommending a platform.

Consolidation software copies whatever entity list, chart and calendar a group gives it. A group with 2 copies of its entity list ends up with 2 consolidations.

Constancia is an EPM consultancy. We check the entity list, the chart and the calendar in every ERP, and we fix the implementation price after that survey.

The new consolidation runs beside the old one until the difference is zero.

In some groups the ownership table lives in the group accountant's workbook, and the last change came by phone. The survey then records that workbook as the source.
